Job Description:   The Youth Ministry Coordinator will oversee all programs and ministry for 7th through 12 grade.  He/She will work in cooperation with other church staff, volunteers and committees of Messiah Church.  He/She will, in the context of Christian growth and development, continue current ministries and/or develop new ministries.  He/She will be expected to recruit, train, and encourage a volunteer base.

Qualifications:

·         Walking in a vital relationship with Jesus Christ led by the Holy Spirit and scripture

·         Love for youth and an ability/gift to work with them in a Christian setting

·         Enjoyment of the task of connecting with youth on a social and spiritual level

·         The ability to work cooperatively with the pastor, other church leaders and volunteers in a team environment

·         Servant leadership

·         Willingness to share credit with others

·         Highly motivated, self-disciplined, organized, with excellent communication skills

·         Experience teaching in a Christian context/Bible background

·         Ability to maintain confidentiality

·         Willingness to recruit youth by becoming familiar with the neighborhood and inviting youth from the community to church events

·         Passion for sharing the word and bringing Christ to others

 Responsibilities:

·         Teaching and training from a Biblical perspective

·         Recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers

·         Building relationships with youth

·         Encouraging small group, class and special events participation of youth

·         Attending appropriate continuing education events

·         Managing curriculum and scheduling

·         Conforming to and complying with all requirements, qualifications, and performance expectations of the Messiah United Methodist Church Safe Sanctuary Policy

·         Educating and insuring that volunteers are in compliance with the policy

·         Communicating events with youth and the church through social media, newsletter etc

Accountability: 

Evaluation after a period of 30 days and again after 90 days by the pastor and a member of SPRC on behalf of the SPRC.  After that, evaluations will be yearly.
